We are delighted to announce our first speakers for the next CyNam event on Thursday 23 March 2017 at Jurys Inn. Andrew and Steve from the Department of Culture Media and Sport who are responsible for cyber, will talk about government initiatives to help support and fund SMEs and Start Ups. They'll talk about the funding that has been made available and how interested parties can apply to seek that assistance to help grow and advance their organisations. Andrew is the Assistant Director for Cyber Research and Information and Steve is Senior Policy Adviser on Cyber Growth. We're really pleased they are coming along and look forward to hearing all about this.
Welcome to 2017!
Our next CyNam event is on its way and is now confirmed once again at Jury's Inn, Cheltenham for Thursday 23 March 2017. Keep watching for further details which will be listed here in due course. If you'd like to be involved please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next CyNam event is already being planned for Q1 2017 with an equally impressive line-up of speakers and sponsors. In the meantime, our website is now live at www.cynam.org and we are in conversation with a host of Cyber SMEs, the Wayra Cyber Accelerator scheme, interested Angel Investors, business mentors and the wider Cheltenham support network to establish a robust SME and start-up platform in Cheltenham.
See you at the next event!
Despite the cold weather, a fantastic turnout of over 180 people enjoyed the inaugural CyNam (Cyber Cheltenham) event held at Jury’s Inn hotel on Thursday evening. Introduced by event host, Chris Dunning-Walton (MD, InfoSec People), CyNam marked the relaunched and rebranded Cheltenham Cyber Tech Hub and boosted a great speaker agenda, including:
- Head of Innovation, GCHQ
- David Balson, Ripjar
- Richard Yorke, MD Deep Sky Blue Solutions
- Steve Mason, VP & Head of Strategy, L-3TRL
- Alex Chalk, MP for Cheltenham
Addresses ranged from the lessons learned in successfully establishing a Cyber Start-up to how Cyber attacks shaped the US election as well as use of Cyber Offence and Defence on the battlefield. Attendees were also given real insight into how Local and Central Government were committed to supporting Cyber and Tech SMEs in the local Cheltenham area.
